The ISSA Board of Directors have unanimously voted YES for Ottawa to host the 2011 ISSA World Championships of slalom skateboarding. We are pleased to see the return of Worlds to Canada and wish you good luck with the preparations.

Your event has been awarded Major status, the only one in North America 2011. The European Major this year will be the European Championships, recently awarded to Grenoble. The ISSA World Ranking allows racers to earn Major points in only two disciplines per year, so participation in one of these two events are important to gain a good position in the World Ranking.

follow-up to Martin Streek Memorial Session
On 8/25/2009 Tom wrote in from Canada  (76.68.nnn.nnn)

Hey MetroLongboarders,

The Martin Streek Memorial Session was a success! We had a blast riding the hills in and around High Park. A few near misses and some blood shed help make it memorable and appropriate for Martin. We also raised $160 in Martin's name to help fight cancer.

I hope to get another MetroLongboarding session worked into my busy schedule this season. Stay tuned.

Cheers, Tom

LAST message before Toronto session
On 8/22/2009 Tom wrote in from Canada  (76.68.nnn.nnn)

Hey MetroLongboarders,

This should be the last message before this session.

If the roads in High Park are dry at 10:50 am Sunday then it's a go for a road session. If they are wet, or it starts to rain during the session, we'll head to CJ's. Talk to me for the discount deal.

Here are the previous details:

I hope you're looking forward to this session as much as I am!

As a bonus, the first five to contribute at least $20 to Martin's Ride to Conquer Cancer™ will get a limited edition t-shirt. I don't have a pic of the shirt, but attached is a copy of the graphic that's large on the back and small on the front. The shirts are off-white and labled as organic cotton.

This is a reminder of the upcoming session. Although the long range forcast is good the back-up rain plan is to go to CJ Skatepark. Here are some of those details if it does rain: You can go to the skatepark at 11 and skate till 3 and we get free pad rentals for only $13 each.

Here are the original details:

MetroLongboarders presents the
Martin Streek Memorial Longboarding Session
Martin is one of the original members of Toronto’s premier longboarding group. We’d like to remember our friend on one of his favourite rides, through High Park in Toronto.
Sunday, August 23, 2009 Sunday, August 23, 2009
Meet up at Hogtown Skateshop at 401 King St. West at 10am, –OR– meet in the parking lot of the Grenadier Restaurant in High Park at 10:40am.
If it rains again, the session goes indoors at CJ Skatepark, 60 Horner Ave, Etobicoke at 11am.

One of Martin’s last selfless acts was to participate in the Ride to Conquer Cancer™. We’ll be collecting donations for the charity at this session to contribute to Martin’s legacy, or you can contribute at www.conquercancer.ca.

Best regards,
Tom
